Jonathan Frazier

Jonathan FrazierJonathan grew up in Dillsburg, PA, and was accepted into the Harrisburg Area Arts Magnet School his senior year. He went on to study at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, then to Kutztown University, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.

He served four years in the Air Force before returning to the Harrisburg area, where he has made his living as an artist and performing musician. He has been involved with numerous local arts organizations, and is the youngest member of the Seven Lively Artists. He is often commissioned for pen and ink architectural renderings.
He is primarily known for his vibrantly colored landscapes painted in oil and watercolor.

Artwork Receives Widespread Exposure, Accolatdes

His work has been exhibited at Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, F.A.N. Gallery in Philadelphia, the Art Association of Harrisburg, Artisans Gallery in Lancaster, and many others.   He enjoyed international exposure when one of his Cape Cod paintings was published in the June/July 2009 issue of "International Artist" as a finalist in a world-wide competition. Another of his Cape paintings was in a Cape Cod Museum of Art advertisement in the July/August 2010 issue of "Fine Art Connoisseur", also an international publication.  

 
Closer to home, he was the subject of a story in the January 2011 issue of "The 'Burg Magazine". He was included with the Seven Lively Artists in a January TV news segment and a feature article in the March issue of "In Central Pennsylvania Magazine", a Harrisburg Patriot News publication. He has recently been focusing on plein air efforts on Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.

Many of these paintings have been selected for inclusion in various regional juried exhibitions in the past 3 years.  He recently had work at the 2011 Juried show at Lebanon Valley College, and currently has a piece in the Doshi Juried show at the State Museum of Pennsylvania.  Two “Skylines” will be part of the upcoming Cumberland Valley Juried Exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Art in Hagerstown MD. The Skyline series has been selected for solo exhibitions at the Montpelier Arts Center near Richmond VA in August of 2011 and the Delaplaine Visual Art Education Center in Frederick MD in December of 2011.

2011 Coming Events

June 3
- Solo exhibition of Jonathan's recent work at Gallery 30 in Gettysburg PA.

June 10 - 19 - Gettysburg Festival plein air painting event. More details here

June 12 - Opening of the 79th Annual Cumberland Valley Artists Exhibition at Washington County Museum of Fine Art in Hagerstown, MD. Skyline Drives IV and VII were selected for this show, which will remain up until 4 September 2011. The reception will also celebrate the opening of the newly           enclosed courtyard atrium.  Public event from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

August - Solo exhibition of Skyline Drive inspired paintings at the Montpelier Center for Arts and Education in Montpelier, just outside of Richmond Virginia.  Reception TBA.  

August 6 - Jonathan joins friends Brian Eppley, Steve Wetzel, and Dave Henry at this Summer Soiree event held at the Whitcomb residence, 2345 N Second St., Harrisburg. Tickets at the Art Association of Harrisburg.  

December 8  - Jonathan is part of a two-person show at Gallery at Second, 608 North 2nd St, Harrisburg, PA. Show ends January 21, 2012.  

December  -  Solo exhibition at the Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, Maryland. Work from his ongoing series of Skyline Drive paintings.
