John McNulty

John McNultyCurrently residing in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, John Michael McNulty was born in Pittsburgh, and grew up in the Monongahela Valley steel town of North Braddock, just up the hill from the Edgar Thomson Works, Andrew Carnegie’s first steel mill. From age ten, he attended drawing and painting classes at the Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh. To help pay for his education, he spent his college summers working as a laborer in the mill.

After earning his degree in Graphic Design from La Roche College, John worked as an art director for several advertising agencies. He moved to Harrisburg in 1986 and served many Central Pennsylvania agencies and businesses as an art director and illustrator.

In addition to a fifteen-year advertising position at Ahold USA/Giant Food Stores in Carlisle, John taught evening oil painting classes for sixteen years at the Friendship Center in Lower Paxton Township. Every year since 1986, he has created original promotional artwork for Open Stage of Harrisburg regional theatre. John works in several traditional media, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, cut paper, and brush & ink. He continues to paint and exhibit his work with the Seven Lively Artists.
