Robert L. Hughes

Painting primarily in oils, Robert enjoys creating paintings inspired by his appreciation of the beauty of nature. His landscapes are mostly done on-site, in one sitting. Robert travels frequently to Cape Cod and Great Britain on painting expeditions. He also enjoys the challenge of portrait and figurative painting in his studio.  

He has studied in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, the Schuylkill Academy of Fine Art, and has taken classes at the Art League in Alexandria, Virginia. 

Robert currently teaches oil painting and drawing classes at the Sunbury YMCA Art Center, Sunbury, PA. His favorite artists include John Singer Sargent, John Constable, Pierre Paul Prud’hon, Richard Schmid, Trevor Chamberlain, Kevin Macpherson.    

Robert L. Hughes resides in Winfield, Pennsylvania.

Special Event
Robert will be one of the featured artists at the Soirée In Midtown on Saturday, June 25 from 5-8 pm. The event will be hosted by Janetta and Richard Brenner, 227 Verbeke Street, Harrisburg. Tickets are available at the Art Assoication of Harrisburg.
